Strawberries Around the Fountain

The Friends of Eckhart Public Library and Eckhart Public Library will be hosting Strawberries Around the Fountain in the Library Park on Thursday, June 4th, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This annual fundraiser and celebration will be the official start to Eckhart Public Library’s summer programming and engagement series READ. DO. EXPLORE. Strawberries Around the Fountain is an event for the entire family and community to enjoy as well as a fundraiser to benefit Eckhart Public Library. We’re excited to include The YMCA of DeKalb County, PBS Fort Wayne, and Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum, DeKalb County Horseman’s Association, Mystic Brush Face Painting, and more to the celebration this year. In addition to the musical entertainment, bounce house, face painting, and horse-drawn wagon rides there will also be a chalk walk, dinosaur fun, and sensory area. There is no cost to participate in any of these activities. Plus, Auburn’s Moose Family Center will be providing free hot dogs for attendees while supplies last. Strawberry shortcakes and strawberry milkshakes will be sold for $10 each and feature handmade vanilla ice cream from The Brown House and biscuits from The Deli at Sixth and Main. There will be a limited amount of gluten and dairy free options available on a first come, first serve basis. The sale of these strawberry shortcakes is the biggest fundraiser for Friends of Eckhart Public Library of the entire year. The proceeds will fund 100% of the library’s programming for the next year along with all prize books that are purchased for the children and teens in the area. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the gymnasium at McKenney-Harrison Elementary School. If bad weather occurs, the decision to move the event indoors will be made by midday on the day of the event. ___________________ When Dinosaurs Ruled...the Library, our 2026 Summer READ. DO.
